Johan Nus began classical dance training at the age of five. As a teenager, he earned his Royal Academy of Dance certifications with honors, followed by the French State Diploma in classical dance. At the same time, he completed a Master’s degree in Industrial Economics at the University of Nancy II. Driven by a passion for multidisciplinary performance, he further trained in contemporary dance at the National Dance Center in Lyon, while also studying voice and acting.

After performing leading roles from the classical repertoire and participating in numerous contemporary creations, Johan was cast in Snow White, directed by Jean-Luc Moreau at the Folies Bergère. This marked the beginning of his career in musical theatre and opera houses, where he went on to perform in productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, My Fair Lady, La Vie Parisienne, The Medium (Menotti), Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Poulenc), and Aladdin.

For over fifteen years, he has choreographed a wide range of musical productions for major institutions. He notably contributed to the creation of Est-ce que j’ai une gueule d’Arletty? (Molière Award for Best Musical, 2020) and Frozen (Molière Award for Best Family Show, 2023) at the Comédie-Française. He also created Madiba in Australia following its French premiere. In addition to family productions (Tom Sawyer, Peter Pan, The Little Match Girl), audiences have also seen his work in Las Vegas productions such as Twisted Vegas and Magical Dreams.

Johan Nus has created and choreographed numerous ballets, including The Wall and Swan Lake on Water, as well as operatic productions such as Carmen and Carmina Burana. Acclaimed both in France and abroad, many of his productions—spanning ballet, opera, and musical theatre—have enjoyed extended international tours and continue to be performed across multiple seasons.

Several of the productions Johan Nus has choreographed have received prestigious awards, including The Producers, which won two Molière Awards in 2022 and five Trophées de la Comédie Musicale, Ulysse (Molière Award 2025), Frozen (Molière Award 2023), Est-ce que j’ai une gueule d’Arletty ? (two Molière Awards), and The Nutcracker (Molière Award 2026), among others.

As a director, Johan has staged The Sound of Music for a national Opera tour, West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz for the Opéras of Vichy and Saint-Étienne, Noah, and most recently Once Upon a Time in Dubai, the first original musical ever created in the Middle East.

Since 2025, Johan Nus has served as Artistic Director of AICOM, France’s leading musical theatre academy.

Johan also choreographed the 20th Anniversary Parade of Disneyland Paris and continues to collaborate regularly on major productions and events for the renowned entertainment destination. Beyond the stage, he creates bespoke live events around the world, including projects for Amazon in Paris, Hermès in Japan, Elephant Live in Malaysia, the Pierre Cardin Foundation, Le Salon du Chocolat for seven consecutive seasons, and Coca-Cola at the Olympia Theatre, among many others.

A versatile creative artist, Johan also brings his talent to magazines, advertising campaigns, and music videos. He has served as Artistic Director for numerous international television productions, including Got Talent, The X Factor, and Mask Singer.

Johan is also a member of Les Ménilmontant, a vocal ensemble signed to Sony Classical, and was involved in the development and creation of the stage production based on the group’s album.
